Now, I know there are lots of worries already regarding surviving winter with the cost of living rising up! So, let's not add our nails on to that list. It may sound silly mentioning our nails in a time of crisis, however, trust me...you will thank me! Here is great aftercare advice to help you have lasting manicures!
If we want our nails to look good day by day but without added costs, then we need to look after them properly. If we don't look after them, it will cost more in the long run as you will need a lot more doing to them during each appointment. (Such as fixing broken nails, chips, full removals rather than infills etc...) and who wants that! Colder temperatures can affect our nails in many ways so let's see what steps we can do to minimise this.
So, first thing is first:
USE CUTICLE OIL AND HAND CREAM DAILY! When your nails become dry it can cause lifting which leads to peeling and picking! So, let's keep them moisturised and have happy, healthy and hydrated nails :)
MANAGABLE LENGTH! Choose a length that you can deal with on a daily basis, this means less chance of breaking between appointments and saving money!
WEAR GLOVES! When doing the housework, washing up or using chemicals etc. This will help with chipping, lifting or chemical damage. ALSO remember to use gloves outside during the colder weather as this will help minimise any risks of cracking or cuts on your hands and around your cuticles!
DO NOT USE YOUR NAILS AS TOOLS! Constant pressure on your nails can cause tears on your nails over time, leading them to crack and brake. This includes picking, scraping tape and packaging or using your nail to open something up etc.
REGULAR APPOINTMENTS! This helps keep your nails healthy and in in good condition and the best shape for you. Missing appointments or waiting too long in between will also mean spending more money as your nails will be open to more damage due to daily life
So, once you leave the salon it is in your hands to take these steps and play a part in keeping your nails looking good for longer! Are you due your maintenance appointment? Get yourself booked in :)
